In response to a rising demand for staff well prepared for their profession and a necessity to improve the offer and content of education, a need has emerged to implement a project aimed at organizing apprenticeships abroad for students of Zespół Szkół Technicznych im. Jana Pawła II w Zbąszynku (John Paul II’s Technical Schools Complex in Zbąszynek). Constant technological development and modernization of workplaces and their technology lines is the reason why well conducted practical education which includes knowledge on the European standards, became indispensable and desirable at the work market. Municipality of Zbąszynek is the promoter of this project, coordinated by Ewa Omelczuk – Headmaster of the Technical Schools Complex in Zbąszynek. The main target of this project is to support 67 students of Technical Schools Complex in Zbąszynek, receiving education in the following professions: landscape architecture technician, electricity technician, mechatronics technician and IT technician in gaining skills and qualifications enabling personal development and possibilities for employment, as well as taking part and moving around the European work market by organizing apprenticeships at German employers. These students are beneficiaries of this project. Organization involved is the Vitalis Betreuungsgesellschaft für Modellprojekte mbH in Schkeuditz, person responsible on behalf of the organization is Małgorzata Worona. In the long-term, these apprenticeships will increase the attractiveness of the school’s professional education brought to real conditions, certify and broaden skills of students educated in these professions, as well as improve mobility of the students in terms of gaining professional experience, will enable a comparison of education systems in Germany and Poland, develop language skills of the students, especially in the technical area, will also enable to get acquainted with the German culture. Organizing the apprenticeships as a project will contribute to increasing the attractiveness of Technical Schools Complex in Zbąszynek at the local education market, will be a great asset during recruitments and will be an encouragement to study technical specializations, especially IT, electricity, mechatronics and landscape architecture. Time frame of the project is 1.04.2015 – 31.07.2016. The apprenticeships will take place from 3.05.2015 to 30.05.2015 – 29 students: electricity technician (3), IT technician (15 – as this is the most numerous profession group in the school), mechatronics technician, landscape architecture technician and from 1.05.2016 to 28.05.2016 – 38 students: electricity technician (10), IT technician (12), mechatronics technician (6) and landscape architecture technician (10) in companies in Germany, around Leipzig including Gärtnerei und Baumschule Felgenträger and Landwirtschaftsbetrieb Weisse, WWH-, Werkzeug-Produktions- und Handels GmbH in Markranstädt and Selux GmbH, Nussbaum GmbH, Antera GmbH, Robotron Bildungs- und Beratungszentrum GmbH and Gut Wehlitz. In order to perform evaluation and monitoring, three meetings of people responsible are planned at the site of the organization involved:
- Organizational meeting – March 2015 and March 2016 which is aimed to start the project, assess cooperation terms in detail, check the apprenticeships realization possibilities, perform an initial evaluation of the project
- Controlling meeting during one of the apprenticeships, aimed to perform monitoring and evaluation of the apprenticeships conduct, accommodation and accordance of apprenticeships to the program
- Summary meeting – project evaluation – June 2015 and June 2016
