Staże w niemieckich hotelach - szansą dla młodych hotelarzy na europejskim rynku pracy

The participants of the project were 14 students in the profession of hotelier technician in ZespółSzkółnr 1 in Goleniów. They took 2-week-long vocational trainings in two groups during the school year 2015 at the German partner BeruflicheSchule der Universitas – Und Hansestadt Greifswald and in four German hotels. The traineeship included professional practice and was relevant to the programme of vocational training and the curriculum base in the hotel trade profile in this type of secondary school. The project aimed at increasing theoretical and practical knowledge of hotel industry, comparing the gained knowledge to German standards, enhancing the participants’ German language competence and personal development in social and intercultural communication. Moreover, this project enabled receiving Europass Mobility Certificate confirming skills and qualifications gained abroad and practical use of the training experience gained in the process of international cooperation. The participation in ERASMUS + project also aimed at adjusting the school’s educational offer to European standards. Vocational trainings and work experience gained in Germanhotelshave definitely increased students’ language skills which are essential to work in hotel industry and their knowledge of both work organization and its techniques. In prospect, it will facilitate the future graduates’ employability in the Polish and the European labour market and finding interesting jobs. Received European Mobility Certificates will confirm the level of skills, knowledge and qualifications gained abroad. What is more, it has given the educating process in ZespółSzkółnr 1 in Goleniów European character and will strengthen the position of its graduates in this field in the labour market both in Poland and the UE. After such a training students are fluent in professional German and have got acquainted with the up-to-date methods of serving hotel guests, the range of work techniques at different positions in various types of catering and hotel accommodation. There was a supervisor who coordinated the training process. He also assessed the skills gained by the trainees on the basis of observation how tasks and activities were completed and the traineeship register was fulfilled. The soft results of the project participation are: enhancing students’ personal development in the field of intercultural and social communication, increasing theoretical and practical knowledgeof the hotel industry, familiarizing with the German standards of guest service, the practical use of German language in hotel industry and catering and bringing some practical solutions to the country ground. Gaining these qualifications and skills will increase the future graduates’ chances for employment in Poland and abroad, and their mobility on the European labour market. This opportunity has increased our school’s graduates’ level of transparency, qualifications and competence recognition. This project has definitely tighten school’s cooperation with its German partner and has raised the quality and teaching attractiveness level. For students, it has been a stimulus to get better learning results.
