Aim:The project "European internships as a way to success" aims to make the educational offer of Technical Secondary Schools no. 22 in Łódź more attractive by increasing students' competences in terms of preparations for entering the European labor market. The organization of vocational internships in cooperation with Mobility Friends in Portugal is to enable students both from new and existing classes, with profiles such as: motorcycle mechanic, driver-mechanic, electromechanic, mechatronic assembler, panel beater, car technician and mechatronics technician, to get professional experience on the European market, and to familiarize with the European environment of employers in particular. Thanks to the realization of project activities, not only will the level of students’ professional competences related to automotive and new technologies be increased, but also their multicultural awareness and language competences. The project will develop their personal and social skills, strengthen their self-confidence and motivation to make an effort. Thanks to positive enhancement the project activities will effectively prevent the premature dropping out of the educational system.Description of activities:The project aims will be achieved as a result of activities realized in cooperation with the partner "Mobility Friends" in Portugal. The main project activities include two-week internships for students of Technical Secondary Schools no. 22 in Portugal automotive garages that enable their getting familiar with technologies used abroad, as well as work culture and the environment of employers in Portugal.The experience gained by the participants during their stay will be used in the creation of new educational tools, educational platform, materials for employers and vocational school teachers, and included permanently in the program of educational activities of Technical Secondary Schools no.22 in Łódź. The conclusions and created materials will be disseminated among the teachers from Łódź Region. During the preparatory phase, stay in Portugal and summing up of the project realization, the activities will also include meetings and classes on multicultural and language education, promotional meetings in school (local) environment, and meetings, teleconference and online classes with the use of the Internet tools. Expected results: The increase in professional, personal and social skills of the participants will be reflected in the quality of vocational education and the increase of attendance in Technical Secondary Schools no. 22 in Łódź. The participants will know what the foreign employers' requirements and expectations are like. Moreover, they will try and develop their language skills in real life - they will use a foreign work-related language on a communicative level, enabling working abroad. The participants will strengthen their self-confidence and open to new, wider experiences, they will be more mobile (especially students from rural areas and small towns, and dysfunctional families as well as those with difficult financial situation). Thanks to broadening their perspective, the students' motivation to make an effort and gain additional qualifications will increase. They will get Europass which will strengthen their position on the European labor market, improve their chances for employment, and shorten their career path, which will influence the decrease in the unemployment level among graduates. On the basis of the experience gained from foreign internships, modified programs and scenarios for practical classes will be created, and then disseminated on an educational platform. A guidebook for students, teachers and vehicle service stations' owners will be prepared. In this guidebook the qualifications and skills of students of the automotive technological college and vocational school in Poland and Portugal will be determined and compared. The school will expand its educational offer, which will be reflected in the recruitment for the first year. The vocational programs will be adapted to the European labor market. Students from different types of schools will be integrated.The Portugal companies will know the Polish employee, and the European market will open to Polish employees.The multicultural experiences will contribute to the elimination of xenophobic attitudes and fighting stereotypes.
