The target of the project is a four-week internship in the UK and Italy for students of Zespol Szkol no. 1 in Sanok. Seven students from each school faculty will participate in the internship. There are four faculties learnt at the school: economy, logistics, hospitality, nutrition and food service. Together it gives a total of 28 students and two teachers to look after them. Tellus Ltd. is the host organization. It is an institution with many years of experience in organizing internships for students. The internship will take place in Plymouth in the UK and in Caserta, Italy. The project is a response to the needs of the school (increasing the attractiveness and quality of teaching), students (increasing personal, professional and linguistic competence, increasing employment opportunities, equalization of opportunities), local employers (better employee on the local labor market) and the local community (parents, local authorities). Its aims and objectives are a response to the school's development strategy, which involves professional development of teachers and students, using international potential. While participating in the project an intern will study the characteristics of a British and Italian company, methods of management and labor, health and safety rules on individual workstations, professional terminology in a foreign language, the rules of organization and work culture characteristic to the UK and Italy, he/she will form the following personal characteristics under actual working conditions: manners and the culture of personal customer service, self-reliance, hard work, respect for labor discipline, teamwork, the ability to plan work and working time, the ability to organize their workplace, speak a foreign language. These skills will have the specifics of a particular profession, because they will be shaped in the work environment characteristic to a specific industry branch. Theoretical knowledge acquired in school will be deepened by practical skills, while gained skills and certifications will help future graduates in functioning on the labor market. The project will make it easier to find a job or running their own business. During the internship, the student should get familiar with the operation of the company on the European labor market, he/she should understand and realize the nature of the profession, which is to satisfy the diverse needs of the customer. Participation in the project will increase graduates’ sense of confidence while dealing with the employer and the client. The interns will be accommodated with British families which will help them in getting to know the British daily life, their culture, customs, ways of spending free time. He/she will also explore the culture of Italy and the specificity of Italian cuisine, which is very popular in Poland and Europe. The trainee will learn to cope with new, perhaps sometimes even extreme, situations. An adequate system of recruiting students to participate in the project will motivate them to improve their academic performance and attendance. Trainees will increase their competence in the following fields : professional, linguistic, IT, organizational, social, personal. A trainee in the UK will implement the program "Preparation for life", and will also receive points in the APT Award system. It is a system designed to provide the participant with work experience recognized throughout the EU. General targets are based on the fact that it is a transparent system for assessing the student's ability, which supports and promotes modern aspirations of the European countries to unify the scale of assessment of practical skills of vocational school students. Its use will result in an easier and equal process of applying for a job or follow-up education in the European Union for all. In Italy, the intern will implement the program "Preparation for gaining employment" which has similar targets. The project will surely affect: - Improvement of the quality of training offered by Zespol Szkol no. 1 in Sanok, - Improvement of the knowledge and skills of the internship participants , - Reduction of the gap between the knowledge acquired and the skills and competencies required by the employer, - Increase of knowledge about the methods, practices, technologies used in the UK, - Increase of trainees’ employability and creating better career prospects for them, - Increase of trainees’ sense of initiative and entrepreneurship, - Increase of the mobility of trainees in the labor market, - Improvement of the English language skills of trainees, - Increase of motivation to participate in various forms of education and training (also abroad), - Increase of the intercultural competence of trainees, it will teach them to live and work in a multicultural environment, -Self-esteem (positive), - Appreciation of the fact of being a member of the European Union.
