Preparation The aim of this project is to prepare the teacher for her stay so she can make the most of the limited time she has. It involves finding out about the place she is going to and discovering what issues (local and national) people are talking about. Fact finding Research and collecting of basic information related to the country, region and place where she is going for Stay Abroad. This includes finding out about politics, education, geography and socio-economic aspects of the place concerned. This work is to be presented in a Fact File. Fact file covering: Politics national, regional & local parties, local pressure groups. Religion churches and sects. Level of activity & influence in the community. Assignments abroad Assignment 1: DIARY/REPORT There are certain basic requirements for the report. It should always include the following: - a map of the country and a brief introduction to the city/town/village she stayed in - an explanation in her own words of how the education system works in her part of the country - a review of the type of news media which she had most contact with (probably a newspaper) - authentic materials (tickets, brochures, press cuttings etc) which she used - a final evaluation, in which she looks critically at what the stay has meant to her personally, both in terms of her language development end your her career. Furthermore, in the course of the stay she should write about things which impress or horrify or please or interest her. Reacts to events and statements. Tries to analyse the differences and similarities between home and w Assignment 2: WORD FILE ( 50 items) The idea is to consciously aim at increasing her active vocabulary by an agreed number of words end expressions. Word in original sentence/ translation / use it in new sentence Assignment 3: SPECIAL INTEREST PROJECT To complete this assignment type up the material you have collected into a coherent report (with a contents list!), in which she emphasizes what she learnt from the research which she did. When it is handed in an appointment can be made for the final interview at the HU to end the course "Stay abroad". Benefits: Preperation for CPE test in final year of Bachelor of Education.
