Stars Up Stars Down
Start date: Apr 1, 2013,

The Youth Exchange "Stars Up Stars Down" was focusing on the cultural diversity by exploring how STARS are influencing our cultures. We brought together 35 young people from Lithuania, Netherlands, Hungary, Croatia and Latvia to Daugirdiskes, Lithuania for the 8 days exchange in July 2013. The main aim of this exchange was to understand how STARS are influencing our lives. By the stars we mean physical ones in the sky (through astronomy, astrology, mythology) and the ones in the pop culture (singers, movie stars, artists).During the first part of the youth exchange programme young people got to know each other and each other countries and cultures through presenting themselves, sharing their opinions of main themes of the exchange, explored and learned basics of astronomy, exchanged views on astrology and creatively presented important aspects of mythology in their cultures.During the second part of the youth exchange participants were involved in organising various cultural events: cinema night, music and dance night, fire show. During day time they was exploring and sharing of how modern idols in pop-culture become famious and how this influence our life (role models, consumerism, lifestyles). The participants in small groups created collages, posters, small theatrical sketches, had rounds of presentations and discussions. The reflection and evaluation was part of the programme activities and carried on in small groups and plenary meetings. In the follow-up of this project participants organised similar cultural activities in their communities.
