In order that language learning and cultural awareness is accessed by as many pupils as possible within a special education setting, we propose to send 2 staff to France and Spain on up-skilling training. Once their confidence and competence in delivering basic language skills is improved they will teach the target languages and cultural awareness to children from all phases, using a range of strategies which meet the cognitive and sensory needs of our learners. The impact of this training will be monitored by proficient staff (Head of Curriculum) who will then facilitate the dissemination of these skills to other teaching and support staff members who will continue the development of this area of learning.
