Start date: Oct 1, 2014, End date: Nov 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Mosjøen videregående skole is an upper secondary school offering a wide range of programme areas, comprising both vocational and general studies. Internationalisation is officially stated as one of the school's focus areas. We have been working with internationalisation for more than 15 years, and we strongly believe that making teachers and students from across Europe meet and work together will help reducing xenophobia, provincialism and racism. In our European development plan we focus on improving skills and knowledge within English and ICT. We want our language teachers as well as our vocational teachers to take part in courses within these areas. In our school participation in international projects is very popular, and increased knowledge in English and ICT will have a positive influence of all our international coorporation. We have chosen learning institutions in Malta and Portugal. ESE, The Executive Training Institute in Malta's training programmes focus on developing those skills needed for success in an international environment: fluency of Speech, effectiveness of Communication and accuracy of Language. In Portugal the CREF – Education, Resources and Training Centre offers coursesI within ICT as a tool for intercultural an media education. We wish to send 30 teachers in a flow of 6 in a period of 2 years. Participating in teacher courses with other European colleagues will bring new international dimention to the teachers. They will share their experiences in their interdisiplenary reference groups of language teachers and vocational teachers. First of all the teachers will use their competence in the classrooms, and this will benefit the student's learning experiences. They will get to know about international matters, and understand that this is something useful for them in their future work. The international society offers a lot of oppurtunities which is relevant for our students. The students will bring the intercultural dimention to their working placement periods in different companies around the country. The companies will get to know that Mosjøen videregående skole is working with and towards the European market, and that the teachers and the students in our school are experiencing the technological, educational, economical and social development in other countries. This way new ideas can benefit local and national companies. We hope that the teachers participating in these courses will get better competence in English and ICT. They will also gain a better intercultural understanding, and this will in return gain the students. Participating in different activities within internationalisation will add a European dimention to our training activities. The language courses will most certainly improve the benefitciary' s language competences, and this will increase the school's total competence. This will again make the school more attrative for future applicants and it will also benefit the school's status in the society.
