Spreading Integration And Development Of Skills
Start date: Jan 7, 2013,

The ‘Spreading Integration and Development of Skills’ (SIADOS) project aims to promote solidarity and active citizenship among young people in Italy and Argentina, in order to strengthen social cohesion and integration. The project will encourage the volunteers involved to take active roles in their communities, helping them to become aware of the importance of intercultural issues and to be able to challenge, with respect and sensitivity, points of view which perpetuate inequality and discrimination. The project will involve three volunteers, who will spend nine months at the ‘AGENDA GLOBAL SIGLO 21’, a non-governmental organisation working in Argentina in the fields of social and work inclusion. The volunteers will take part in residential pre-departure training at the ‘House of Peace’ of the 'Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII' Association in order to raise their knowledge and awareness of issues concerning nonviolence, social inclusion and active citizenship. Following this, they will go to Rosario to work with the host organisation in organising training in youth empowerment and rights of workers, and cultural exchanges. They will receive additional training on their arrival in Argentina and further follow-up training both halfway through their time there and again before they leave. A final evaluation of the project will take place on the volunteers’ return to Italy. The results of this will be published and used to raise awareness in the local community.
