The idea for "SportIgration" project has been born from young people who have been trained in recent years to use the methodology "Education through Sport", which monitoring the current society problems were willing to share their experience on the issue and to reach more people, with a focus on people who have the necessary tools to implement similar practices at national level.According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees 3,982,439 are the citizens affected by the violence in Syria. Europe feels more strongly the consequences of this conflict and there is an urgent need to take measures and draw up policies for the integration for the people, entering the EU territory. In 2013 the number of those seeking asylum in Bulgaria exceeds 7000, which is over 5 times more than 2012 and 10 times more than previous years.PROBLEM: With the presentation of good practices and preparation of a list of measures for integration using the universal language of sport, discussing integration opportunities - culture, language, religion using sports activities. In discussions during the project we believe can contribute to the integration of refugees in our societies, as this will reduce the burden of social security systems, the adaptation in the labor market, the difficulty of public acceptance, crime.METHODS: * Through interaction between young people (young people trained to work on the methodology "Education through Sport", active young people in our society, young people from refugee groups) and decision-makers (national and local governments, non-governmental organizations, working in the field) and using sport as a educational tool, with the "SportIgration" project we aim to influence political processes through dialogue between these players.* Young people, involved in the project to assume the role of ambassadors of good practices and be empowered to defend their active civil position on the issue of integration through sport;* Sharing best practices for integration through sport from member states in EU, as well as leading countries like the US, Canada and Australia;* Opportunity for young people who participate in the event to give suggestions and ideas for integration through sport, culture, art, that will increase their civic activity and make them empathic to the current problems in the European Community;* Opportunity for decision-makers at different levels in Bulgaria to discuss, together with colleagues and young people possible solutions for integration practices;RESULTS: * Influence and innovation in the policies for integration of refugees through sport, focusing on young people in this group;* Developed competencies of advocacy and active citizenship;* List of measures to be submitted to decision-makers so that they can be implemented.The integration process is complex and lengthy, involves different interrelated legal, economic, social and cultural dimensions, all of them important to achieve a successful social inclusion and independent living of beneficiaries of protection. The new reality requires the development, adoption and implementation of new modern flexible and efficient strategy for the integration of foreigners who has granted international protection, with specific policies and resources of all central and local authorities.Integration is a two-way process involving mutual adjustment and participation from both sides – people, received protection and by the host society. One of the most powerful tools for integration is sport that brings the supranational values and promotes more rapid and adequate adaptation to different groups in different societies around the world.LOCATION: city of Sofia. In selecting the location of the event, we were guided by an administrative logistics principle; we selected Sofia as capital and home to all institutions that have a bearing on the subject, thereby ensuring broad support and participation of all stakeholders.TARGET GROUP: * Young people between 16 and 30 years with different interests, experience and education active on the integration topic and / or integration through sport, including young people from the refugees community;* Decision makers from different departments relevant to the subject, civil society organizations, local authorities.The program of the event will include space for exchange of experiences and ideas between young people and decision makers and experts in the field. The event will be led and facilitated by recognized experts and responsible decision making process, and training and discussion activities will be complemented by communication, social and sports games. By building an informal and creative environment, participants will be encouraged to debate on various topics. Experts and policy makers will have the opportunity to change their point of view according to the views and needs of young people on the problems of integration in our society.
