"Spinach for Popeye" International Youth exchange - Young in Europe - Today and Tomorrow
Start date: May 1, 2012,

This project is part of an International Exchange Programme called “Spinach for Popeye” which is for both workers in the youth field and young people with whom they work. The programme consists of a bi-annual practitioner congress (last hosted in Falkirk Nov. 09) and a bi-annual youth exchange -in Scotland in June 2010. Next to be held in Sweden (Gothenburg) in June 2012. Participating countries are Scotland (Falkirk), Sweden (Gothenburg) and Germany (the Odenwaldkreis). The young people are aged between 13 and 17 and are already involved in transition projects in each of the countries and will be supported by workers who attended the Congress. The young people who are selected to take part are in the main vulnerable young people who may be experiencing difficulties at school, or at home or in the community. This youth exchange programme will bring together young people from different backgrounds to share experiences, learn together, reflect on their learning and have fun. The title of the project “Young in Europe – Today and Tomorrow” links to the transition theme of “Spinach for Popeye” and the young people will have the opportunity to look at their lives today and their aspirations for the future. The programme will include a range of creative and physical activity workshops where they can learn new skills, work together and express their ideas and feelings. At the end of the programme the young people will make a presentation using the creative medium they have selected around the title of the project.
