In the project "The specifics of nursing and nutritional care for seniors abroad" will participate in four runs, 51 students of Medical Assistant and Caregivers of all years in which the practical training takes place. The students will perform as part of their 17- day internship nursing care for clients in retirement homes and hospitals in Spain and Norway, where they will work under the direct supervision of foreign nursing staff. The main objective of the project will be improvement of the quality of vocational education of our students, especially their practical training. Students will become familiar with foreign nursing procedures, will investigate seniors´ nutrition and compare them with our hospitals and homes for seniors where their practical training is provided. Concerning nursing procedures, they will focus on activation of seniors with an emphasis on prevention of immobilization syndrome, prevention of decubitus and the principles of nutrition. When examining the prevention of immobilization syndrome the students will examine how seniors are encouraged by the nursing staff to retain functional ability as long as possible. The development of practical skills will be complemented by theoretical knowledge. The students will become familiar with international documents relating to the strategy of care for the elderly and will examine how the documents are implemented in the health and social care facilities in both countries. They will also explore how the countries support the idea of positive aging, and again will compare to our country. The students will work throughout the internship process in pairs on a task related to the topic given above, usually by an interdisciplinary key competencies according to the school curriculum. The results will be presented in the form of a presentation in English at the final evaluation seminar for the foreign nursing staff, representatives of OKOS (Europroyectos) and the accompanying teachers. The students will get an international certificate Europass Mobility, which will confirm their gained experience and the entire internship. The presentation will be also given to the students and nursing teachers in two seminars at a Secondary Nursing School in Prague. The new knowledge will be implemented into our school curriculum so all the nursing teachers will benefit in both the theoretical lessons and in practical training. The results of this internship will be presented on the websites of our school and in professional journals. (eg. Sestra), as well as in a publication issued by the school with our own ISBN registered in the National Library. The publication will be publicly available in an electronic form and in printed form in the school library. It will also be offered to other medical schools in the country. Qualified teachers will establish with foreign partners, system of units of learning according to the principles of ECVET, which will contribute to improving the quality of other projects in these fields. This internship will contribute significantly to the personal development of the students and will increase their self confidence and improve language skills. Knowledge of English for these students is one of the basic skills that will enable better mobility on the European labour market. In addition, these students will gain a greater readiness to communicate with foreign patients in our health care facilities.
