Start date: 01 Jun 2016, End date: 31 May 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Vilnius Technology Training and Rehabilitation Center (acronym in Lithuanian – VTMRC) is a place where youth with various disabilities and learning difficulties are learning in educational programs for people with special needs. This group is much more vulnarable than the rest of society because they don‘t have basic social skills, they face social, economic and other challenges, furthermore disabled people face the rejection from the community where they live. Because of that disabled people are characterized by lack of work experience and lower general and vocational education level, they are less attractive for employers and they struggle to find a job also they face discrimination in labour market. These factors are the main reason why disabled youth have low self-esteem and low self-confidence. Moreover, these factors also reduce their social involvement and alienate from active participation in public life. The aim of the project „Students‘ with special needs practice abroad is a step towards job“ is to seek better professional integration oportunities in the modern labor market improving students‘ with special needs practical, vocational and social skills in foreign companies. Another aim of the project is to encourage personal development of disabled youth, their motivation in active job search and to present successful employment examples of German and Estonian disabled people to participants of the project.
