Spaces for youth participation
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The "Spaces for youth participation" project aims at giving one volunteer the opportunity to work on several different projects encouraging participation of young people in society, by empowering them and by offering them spaces and the necessary support (information, contact with experts etc.). It offers the young volunteer not only an insight into the organisational, logistical, educational issues behind the scenes of participative project work, but also gives him or her the opportunity to directly be part of the whole development process (brainstorming, project idea, development of content and materials, development of games and group animation), follow-up, lobbying activities and putting all this in a greater educational and political context. Within this project frame Hanna from Germany has been working for 10 months on the “Participation activity”. She has mainly been involved in the organisation of one Youth Convention and several activities of the Youth Parliament, two structures which are closely linked one to another, mainly by their goal: active involvement of young people in democratic life. She has also participated in the development an the implementation of a follow-up project of the Youth Convention: the Citizenship Rallye organised in the context of the European Year for development. In a close-up experience Hanna has been participating in the creation of these projects and has contributed in all the organisational phases, using different working methods ranging from pure participation to the development of pedagogical games.
