Southern Bridge - "on the pillars of culture" (Southern Bridge)
Start date: Jun 30, 2011, End date: May 30, 2012 PROJECT  FINISHED

The base of the project is the preservation of traditions through the organisation of Croatian and Hungarian days, events promoting joint cultural heritage including handicrafts, folk crafts and fine arts. The joint events aim at strengthening the common identity of the region and promoting the protection of the ethnic minority traditions. As part of the project a database of handicrafts will be developed and made available on a trilingual website, a partnership forum will be organised to promote relationship building and encourage further cooperation in the future. Activities planned include joint youth camps for handicrafts, amateur arts and painting, with the pieces created to be exhibited in several places both in Hungary and Croatia. Achievements: The project was based on a long tradition of co-operation between the two organisations especially in the organisation of cultural events. Looking to enhance the cultural exchange between the two countries with the support of the minorities living on the other side of their motherland, the project partners organised several cultural events based on joint cultural heritage. The events and festivals focused on the promotion of traditional arts and crafts, and put a special emphasis on the inclusion of the children and youth from both sides of the border.
