Sostegno alle persone anziane e vulnerabili mediante l'adozione di soluzioni innovative
Start date: Jan 31, 2012, End date: Apr 29, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project aims at spreading the use of new digital technologies that range from the correct use of the Internet and other main ICT tools to informing population over 65 (the projects target group) of the existence of new technologies such as ambient assisted living (AAL) and other mobile devices. The project has two purposes: the first is to actively involve the elderly in new learning experiences while the second is to prevent and reduce social isolation through ICT and the creation of a virtual community. The project will be carried out through the development of a Touch Screen aimed at population over 65. The main activity consists in teaching (through tutorial classes) 35 old people to use touch screens. The devices will be tailored to match the users starting ICT skills and his/her ICT learning ability during the course of the project. The touch screen as well as an especially created system (e.g. open source Eldy system) will help to facilitate the use of ICT and overcome the difficulties the elderly might encounter. The project will select 15 tutors to support the elderly. The 35 active old people that will have been involved in the learning process will in turn become tutors themselves to other, non active old people and will teach them what they have learnt in the first stage of the project. The total number of old people involved in the cross-border area is 120: 35 active and 85 non-active. News on the project are available on the Regione Valle d'Aosta website (in Italian and French): http://www.regione.vda.it/servsociali/anziani/attivita/progetti_i.aspx
