Songs, dances and arts in the festive-ritual system of Yambol and Edirne regions

Part of the EU’s Lifelong Learning Programme, the Comenius actions aim to help young people and educational staff better understand the range of European cultures, languages and values. Partners from different countries – students and teachers unite their efforts to work together on one and the same topic. The topic of our project is “SONGS, DANCES AND ARTS IN THE FESTIVE - RITUAL SYSTEM OF YAMBOL AND EDIRNE REGIONS”. The two schools are situated in neighbor border regions - Yambol and Edirne - where the studying of the songs, dances and arts interprets the traditions in the folklore of the two countries. Because of the territorial closeness we decided to meet our neighbours and to explore the traditions of the two countries to boost students' self-esteem and encourage the need to know more about the cultural and historical heritage of European countries, to let them communicate more easily. The teachers to get acquainted with different educational systems and methods of teaching. To make friends that will enrich the cooperation and communication between schools and other institutions.The activities from the project were practised after school lessons and made students’ free time interesting and useful.The participants of the project were 12 to 14 year-old students. The working language is English.There were 3 groups from 8 students –“Songs”, “Dance” and “Images and techniques of the festive-ritual system “ and a combined group - “Presentation” in each of the two schoolsThe theme plan of the research was created together with the students and coordinated with two partners.There were three themes:-ritual-traditional songs-ritual-traditional dances-ritual-traditional images and techniquesIn each of the school there is a place of the project and exhibitions from the mobility. There were performances (songs, dances, exhibitions) in front of students from the schools and citizens of Yambol and Edirne during the mobilities.
