Solna summer youth exchange
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Dec 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Solna summer youth exchange, is a continuation of an exchange we had with Point Croix in France last summer when we were over with a group of young people and got the chance to discover the French culture, nature and outdoor activities. We want to develop this idea with Solna's young people , who will guide our foreign guests in Sweden. Between the 1st and the 8th August, we will invite the host of 2013 exchange to Sweden and let their youngsters this time to try out different activities in Solna and Stockholm where we can show what the young people here can do in their spare time. We have also chosen to involve a new partner in the project this year, Wigan Youth Zone from England. We hope then next year they can take over the hosting and show what they have to offer their youngster. Solna's Culture and Leisure Department focus on to include young people with disabilities and this experience is something we take with us in this work when some of the participants, who are in need of special support. The goal of this project is to allow young people to gain an understanding and tolerance of other people from other cultures, countries and social group. We also want to offer support to the participants to become more mobile and dare to explore what there is outside of their neighborhood, city and country. We also aim for participants to learn to work together and communicate with each other despite having different languages, backgrounds and situations. Our desire is for participants to go home with an experience that they can pass on to their friends, families and youth centers. This we will achieve through a combination of workshops, discussions, collaborative tasks, try out activities. Experience based education, where young people get opportunities to experience, reflect and develop.
