Solidary Europe: online micro-funding to build a better future
Start date: Jun 1, 2015,
End date: Sep 1, 2016
The Help Freely Foundation uses new technologies for innovative and social purposes, giving a hand to thousands of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) all over the world thanks to a multiplier effect which converts small actions into visible results on a larger level. This happens though different web tools that enable solidary shops to donate a percentage of their profits to the NGOs that users themselves choose. One of the main objectives of the project is to establish a global network of Cooperation between users, businesses, the media and NGOs which allows each member to benefit from the others.
Furthermore, the aim of this first project is to promote social entrepreneurship and partnerships, active citizenship and volunteering, non-formal education, cultural exchanges and youth employment. There are 7 organizations taking part in this project. The Help Freely Foundation will have a coordinating role, while the other 6 organizations (Akzente from Austria, Scambi Europei from Italy, Concordia Rhône-Alpes from France, ICYE from UK, Kumulus from Sweden and Centro cultural de Hispanohablantes from the Netherlands) will send one volunteer each.
The volunteers will work at the Help Freely Foundation's Headquarters, located in downtown Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. However, their work here will have a worldwide impact and will encompass several fields, languages and cultures. The global perspective of our projects will allow the volunteers to choose their own fields of action and, permanently supported by our staff, to feel the satisfaction to see their input have large-scale social impact.
The volunteers will have the chance of developing themselves in the preferred areas thanks to the task diversity and our staff's open character. Since we count on many experts among our staff members, we are in a position to excellently train the volunteers in several areas. First of all, the volunteers will go through a general training on the nonprofit digital marketing and the Help Freely Foundation's mission, apart from a cultural and linguistic introduction. After this period, the volunteers will learn more specifically about the technical deeds of digital marketing.
The volunteers will be hosted in a shared flat nearby the office, so that they can easily walk home. Both the house and the office are located in downtown Las Palmas, really close to the beach and strategically connected with the rest of the city and the island by bus.
