Socialize, observe, learn
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Realising the project named SOCIALIZE, OBSERVE AND LEARN (SOL), we will seek the cooperation and communication of the students in observing lifestyles of different cultures and presenting our own life style and in teaching the students to lead a healthy way of life. With this healthy living not only includes physical needs – the need for a healthy diet and movement but includes the spiritual needs of personalities and education such as music, art and history. The schools involved, small and large, everyday face a variety of situations that vary from gifted students to lack of learning motivation, poor communication skills, immigrant language needs and more. Teachers try to find interesting lessons, non formal teaching and inclusive practices in order to offer their pupils a personalised approach to learning activities. OBJECTIVES - motivating mixed ability classes (from disadvantaged to gifted students); - developing learner autonomy; - promoting group work; - acquiring an insight about Education in different countries; - exchanging ideas and developing links with teachers and students of other European countries; - fostering self-evaluation practises among students; - increasing motivation and peer to peer interaction; - improving language skills (listening, speaking/interacting, reading and writing) and IT skills; - getting acquainted with teenagers’ different lifestyles of the involved schools; - making the best use of results. NUMBER AND PROFILES OF PARTICIPANTS The project will see the participation of teachers, students and other stakeholders in different activities. Number of teachers directly involved: about 145 Number of students directly involved: about 150 Related students' families. DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES The activities related to the project objectives will be included in the classroom and extra - curricular activities. For students the project activities will be divided into six topics (cultural and natural environment, music, art, sports and leisure, healthy eating habits, communication). Each school will organise activities (project days) 6 times per year (preparation for learning activities/dissemination) before and after mobility. International training, teaching and learning activities for teachers and students will be organised in each school. In the meetings the students from all schools will present their prepared material and learn from each other through active involvement and participation. Of course, the students participating in common activities, will obviously get acquainted with natural and cultural environment, lifestyle habits of other countries and peculiarities of working in a multicultural society. The teachers will become familiar with the educational systems of the countries, various teaching/learning methods and share the experiences.
