Social Entrepreneurship against Youth Unemployment among Women in Rural Areas
Start date: Feb 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Different forms of social entrepreneurship hold great potential in terms of harmonizing the problematic realms of society, where government and governmental institutions find it difficult to interfere, whilst businesses are not interested or do not envisage well-shaped market niches. Despite the remarkable achievements of law and legislation, economic crisis and budgetary restrictions have aggravated the problems of gender equality. This is the reason why our project focuses on training youth workers, thus promoting and initiating various types of social and economic activities, which may provide the grounds for the realization of young women in rural areas. In this way, women will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to support girls from rural areas in their social and economic involvement. The project will create opportunities for searching and finding distance jobs, creation of social enterprises, participation in services improving lifestyle in rural areas such as education and training of children, social patronage, looking after elderly people, etc. Various forms of business entrepreneurship will be considered in the context of new information technologies. The main objective of the project is to enhance social competences of youth workers in terms of their work towards stimulating social entrepreneurship and social involvement of young women in rural areas. The specific objectives will be achieved through a well-balanced and harmonized training programme, namely: Obtaining new knowledge on contemporary social and business entrepreneurship technologies as well as providing additional services improving the quality of life in rural areas;Exchange of good practices amongst representatives of project partner organizations;Creation of grounds for intercultural exchange, social cohesion and development of teamwork skills and abilities;Enhancement of participants’ knowledge and skills through special practical activities for the preparation and development of future Erasmus + projects aiming at overcoming female unemployment in rural areas. Through the implementation of the project, we expect youth workers to increase their qualification and competencies for the initiation and stimulation of social entrepreneurship in rural areas, at that involving the active participation of young women. Youth workers will become aware of the contribution of gender equality towards economic growth and sustainable development which in their turn support the realization of equality of genders in the 2020 Europe Strategy. The project involves 44 participants from 10 countries. The partner organizations are the following: Together for Personal Development Association Asociatia Allons-y, Modern Youth Public Union, Penthesileia, Younet, Symrnes Ogretmen Akademisi, People to People Serbia, KAEBNAI, IFALL and TDM2000. After the completion of the project activities, we will have developed a stable network of nongovernmental organizations working towards decreasing unemployment and empowering young women in rural areas. We will develop a website containing good practices and educational materials for potential partners and interested parties from other countries. We will create an educational channel on YouTube to broadcast good practices from all over the world.
