The activities will often take place in Bratislava cultural houses and centers, kindergartens, schools, universities, theaters, festivals, parks, on public and private events.
We have started the first project of Social Circus in Slovakia, where we are working with various socially disadvantaged groups of people. Especially socially disadvantaged kids and youth from orphanages, poor families, roma or immigrant kids.
We are looking for motivated, active and creative young people who like to work with kids, youth, adults and socially disadvantaged groups. The future volunteers should have interest in working with kids, culture and art - theatre, circus or other related arts,
Volunteers will co-work with professional supervisors - drama and circus trainers and lecturers, project and event managers (all English speakers).
Incoming volunteers will help the organization with youth circus and social circus training programs and related activities. They will be involved in the preparation, organization and executive process of our courses, workshops and performances.
They will gain or develop skills in many aspects and domains of project management, including project planning and designing, event planning and management, working with children and youngsters. EVS volunteers will also take part in various administration and creative tasks, including fundraising, or communication and marketing issues, (for example updating our website or organizing a promotion event with continuous support of our staff).
Volunteers will help our team with preparation, organization and execution of new circus and theater classes for children, youngsters and adults. This will be the core of the activities. Activities as: training children, helping our staff with some basic acrobatic lessons and trainings, creating basic equipment for new circus needs (juggling tools), helping with basic costume creation and other small helping works.
They will also assist in preparation, organization and execution of temporary activities of CirKus-Kus, such as performances, workshops, social circus projects, cultural/educational/sportive projects with local communities, outdoor activities, happenings, kids camps, participation on festivals and others.
Volunteers will have an opportunity to design and create their own small project (small show, event, cultural/educational/sportive activity, workshop..) In this small project volunteers can fully show their special skills, abilities and knowledge and contribute in the mutual learning process. Each of the sides (not only the volunteers but also the hosting organization team), will get to know new domains and obtain new experience and skills.
Very important part in the learning process will be sharing, discussing and evaluating of volunteers plans, ideas and visions through continuous dialogue with the other team members. In this process volunteers will receive an important feedback from the team and vice-versa.
