Smuggling Anthologies
Start date: Feb 1, 2013,

The project 'Smuggling Anthologies' deal with a wide range of possible readings of the notion of smuggling. Being usually regarded within economics and by definition as a shadow economy, the project tries to draw attention to further repercussions of it, emphasising its significant and substantial meaning that melts with antropology, history, ethnology and media society giving new perspectives to understanding of a mankind. The idea derives from observing of the very political moment in the region split by the territories of Croatia, Slovenia and Italy, where exist many narratives not fitting any ideological histories of the territory. There are personal stories based in oral tradition, commonly producing noise in political reading as being based on personal retold narrative. Its about the territory that has always been devided by ideology and history (socialism-capitalism, West-East). The smuggling is the way to overcome these dichotomies with a strong argument carried out from the past: smuggle has always been one of the main resources of the housekeeping economies. Yet as being inscribed retold narratives that carry emotional interpretation, there is a certain suspect for them. One can say the personal has been dismissed as non-relevant and meta-historical matter. Therefore smuggle is also an effort to overcome EU and non-EU territory, as well as a way rehabilitate that 'personal' and emotional interpretation. As being connected to apprehensive and sagacious way to execute it, the action of smuggle is also part of creativity if not creative economy. The project involves 3 countries (Croatia, Italy, Slovenia), 3 cities (Rijeka, Trieste, Idrija) and will held on the 3 main venues (Museum of Modern and Contemporary art, City Museum of Idrija, and Trieste Contemporanea ). Each location carries a part of the show and accompanying program / 3 activities: symposium, exhibition, lectures. Each location carries out a part of the show and accompanying program.
