SMART BE - Developing distance training for SMART buildings energy management

The project addresses the further training needs of engineers and aims to develop an Internet-based educational tool to provide innovative techniques in energy management. This is necessary in view of the on-going changes to building regulations in the Mediterranean countries to incorporate energy certification and calibration in the building process. The outcome of the project will be a comprehensive training course, structured in an interactive web database for new and 'smart technologies' in energy management for buildings. The interactive course will cover, inter alia, artificial intelligence and energy management in buildings, smart energy management technology and sustainability. The provision of such a training tool will complement the mainstream training of engineers offering alternative approaches and solutions in energy management. It will train them in new techniques, products and practices geared towards improving energy management, reduction of energy use and reduction of costs. The transnational partnership will seek to utilise the content of the learning material and the web site through expert workshops. Dissemination activities will raise awareness of new pathways to employment within the energy and building sector.
