Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Counselling and Training Network – smectra.net

The project 'smectra.net' will develop counselling tools and materials for the efficient use of e-learning in SMEs. The project targets training managers, trainers and learners in SMEs. The project will develop over four phases. The first phase will consist of a literature search and interviews with local SME training managers to establish the specific training needs of SMEs that represent a range of business enterprises. These local profiles will be analysed centrally to develop an 'e-Learning Needs Profile of European SME Training Managers'. This will be published through the project web platform and in the form of a position paper and flyer. The second and third phases will involve the project partners in individual tasks in the design, production and practical evaluation of e-learning tools/training for SMEs. E-learning products/training packages will be tested at the local level with human resource/training managers and sample trainee groups who will be tasked with evaluating and testing different e-learning methods and tools. The fourth project phase will see the final optimisation of methods and tools for e-learning and training in SMEs based upon the results of previous phases. Results will include methods for e-training, e-content development, human resource planning and online training pedagogy. Emphasis will be placed on project management for the successful implementation of e-learning and localised needs for e-training. Project partners will discuss the development of project ideas with an advisory council as part of an ongoing evaluation process. The results of the project will be written up as a final report and there will be a final project symposium as part of the project dissemination process to run alongside the project internet platform.
