The project „Efficiency and ecology for tradesman’s challenge” was offered to 16 students attending the secondary vocational and technical school. They were aged from 16 to 20 years old and educated in sales and commerce. The students of the secondary vocational school were mostly adolescent workers that gained experience during apprenticeships based on a short term employment contracts. The students of technical school were fulfilling their practical education in the form of monthly apprenticeship. A large group of students came from families of a low financial status. Students willingly participated in the activities organized by the school. Many students were currently actively involved in the Global School and school youth club Support. The Project was carried out based on the conclusions and the practical experience obtained during the LdV-IVT and VETPRO Projects. The Project responded to needs of students, school and employers. It dealt with two main subjects: efficiency and ecology in sales. Ecology was not only understood as the waste and packaging management, together with recycling, but also as the promotion of local labels and traditional groceries produced without the preservatives or GMO. By participating in the Project the students were able to gain new and very needed skills in the professional, language and social fields. It also provided opportunities to children from low income families and those who were at risk of becoming excluded from normal working society. This program offered students the opportunity to perform a 3 week apprenticeship at sales points in Italy, during which the practical skills gained throughout the project were assessed using ECVET. The students visited oil factory. They found out the way oil production is made and about ecological products certification’s requirements. The following aims were achieved during the project: - acquiring new professional skills especially within the sales of goods and customer service on the Italian market, - gaining expertise on commodities in the field of local ecological products and their certification as additional professional competence, - gaining expertise in waste and packaging management at Italian sales point, - improving English language skills, - gaining basic Italian language skills, - obtaining evidence of professional competence recognized in Europe, using TIK technology, - learning multicultural openness and practical experience of working in a multicultural environment. The students after the internship prepared following products: - multimedia presentation summarizing the internship, - picture tables, - multimedia presentation on waste disposal law (regulations), - a catalogue of the chosen groups of products (oil) including certificates required. The students disseminated project results through organization and participation in the conference, school events like Italian Day and outside school events.
