Skills development in dementia care

BACKGROUNDIn 2015, we are implementing a mobility project with grants from Erasmus in Denmark. The result was very positive for both staff and students and secondary education and for our network. This is now the basis for a new application for the Erasmus +, Mobility of learners and staff.PURPOSE and GOALSThe primary objective of the mobility project is to enhance the quality of education. It would contribute to the further education and skills development for staff and students in education. For teachers bill would visit this year to give the opportunity to deepen knowledge of the treatment and care of people with dementia, from the early stages onwards. We want to deepen the knowledge about Varde Municipality dementia strategy and how people with different ethical backgrounds and young people are supported. During the lerrning at work (LIA) to acquire the knowledge and skills for innovative approaches in the care of people with dementia, which will strengthen their ability to act and thus skills.The aim of the mobility project is to strengthen the quality of education, enhance student employability, take advantage of innovative work practices and improve opportunities for social integration of staff and people with dementia.METHODThree staff should be included in the mobility project. They are responsible for implementing education and teachers of the greatest courses in education. Two students will be offered internships in Varde. Students have extensive experience in health care and are trained nurses.Dementia Care in Varde is organized in the Centre for Health Promotion. They work from a dementia strategy that applies between 2013-2017, the operational work carried out by the three dementia advisers. They coordinate efforts, distributes knowledge, working for the development and supervision.Varde's vision is that people with dementia and their families to get personalized interventions that support their everyday life and autonomy and reducing disability. The center cooperates with municipal dementia accommodations.Staff from our training is scheduled to make an initial visit. Then offered two students to do their internship in Varde. The instructor will have continuous contacts stakeholders in the mobile small.RESULTSExpected results for both staff and students is increased and advanced knowledge and skills in working with people affected by dementia and their families.Cooperation with Varde will lead to the exchange of experience between Sweden and Denmark on dementia care.Benefits in the longer term, the project encourages students and teachers to further contacts across national and cultural borders, which promotes the exchange of knowledge and cultural diversity in Sweden and Denmark.
