CirKus-Kus, the first school of new circus is a Not-governmental organization that has been founded by a young and active team of professionals. We consider ourselves to be a part of active society. We want to change not working things and create new great, useful and functional concepts and modules. We are all ex university students, educated in the field of study we are working in now. The core team members are graduates of: -Management in Culture+Service Science, management and engineering -Motoric Sciences + Circus Pedagogy -PE+psychology -Puppetry and scenic arts Geographical context: most of the activities will take place in Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia. It is very probable that several one-time activities will be held in other Slovak cities or in the neighbor countries. Local community: The organization is working with very vast community. From 3 years old kids and kindergartens, elementary school pupils and schools, youth, teenagers, adults, families up to seniors. Main focus of our activities is on kids, youth and families. The activities will often take place in Bratislava cultural houses and centers, kindergartens, schools, universities, theaters, festivals, parks, on public and private events. We are planning to start the first project of Social Circus in short time, which would mean new communities and public of our activities. Especially socially disadvantaged kids and youth from orphanages, poor families, roma or immigrant kids. We are looking for motivated, active and creative young people who like to work with kids, youth, adults and socially disadvantaged groups. The future volunteers should have interest in working with kids, culture and art - theatre, circus or other related arts, Volunteers will co-work with professional supervisors - drama and circus trainers and lecturers, project and event managers (all English speakers). Incoming volunteers will help the organization with theater and youth circus training programs and related activities. They will be involved in the preparation, organization and executive process of various courses, workshops and performances. They will gain or develop skills in many aspects and domains of project management, including project planning and designing, event planning and management, working with children and youngsters. EVS volunteers will also take part in various administration and creative tasks, including fundraising, or communication and marketing issues, (for example updating our website or organizing a promotion event with continuous support of our staff). Volunteers will help our team with preparation, organization and execution of new circus and theater classes for children, youngsters and adults. This will be the core of the activities. Activities as: training children, helping our staff with some basic acrobatic lessons and trainings, creating basic equipment for new circus needs (juggling tools), helping with basic costume creation and other small helping works. They will also assist in preparation, organization and execution of temporary activities of CirKus-Kus, such as performances, workshops, social circus projects, cultural/educational/sportive projects with local communities, outdoor activities, happenings, kids camps, participation on festivals and others. Volunteers will have an opportunity to design and create their own small project (small show, event, cultural/educational/sportive activity, workshop..) In this small project volunteers can fully show their special skills, abilities and knowledge and contribute in the mutual learning process. Each of the sides (not only the volunteers but also the hosting organization team), will get to know new domains and obtain new experience and skills. Very important part in the learning process will be sharing, discussing and evaluating of volunteers plans, ideas and visions through continuous dialogue with the other team members. In this process volunteers will receive an important feedback from the team and vice-versa. Expected learning outcomes: - working with children, youngsters and adults of different age - working with socially disadvantaged kids and youth - soft skill and social competencies development (teamwork, cooperation, planning, risk management, communication, creativity..) - pedagogic skills development (learning how to lead circus, theatre classes) - artistic, dramaturgic, scenographic skills development (learning how to make a show) - new circus skills and techniques learning (juggling, acrobatics, gymnastics..) - project and event management skills development (learning how to make a project) - broader understanding of different cultures and nations, nurturing tolerance and open mindedness - language and cultural skills. The volunteers will also improve their English skills. - learning about Youth in Action program and international projects - certification of acquired skills through the Youthpass scheme
