Start date: Nov 1, 2014, End date: Oct 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Today the most common primary sources of energy are fossil fuels, many millions of tons of which are burned each year to generate power. Through inefficiencies, from the gathering of these energy sources to their eventual consumption, a staggering 80 percent of their potential to generate power is lost. Estimates suggest energy efficiency improvements could deliver half the cuts in emissions needed to slow down global warming over the next 25 years. As a result, today’s companies have developed systems and products in a way that they are as efficient and environmentally sustainable as possible. Energy efficiency involves all forms of energy conversion, from effective power generation to its efficient use in industry, buildings, and transportation. The efficient systems (software and products) that have been developed contribute in reducing energy consumption and operational cost by 20% and occasionally by 50%. Using energy more efficiently brings many benefits: it makes the energy go further, curbs carbon dioxide emissions and saves money. Consumers motivated by the lower consumption (saving money) are turned more and more to efficient systems and products. So there is an increasing demand for high efficient systems and products in the global market. Students participating in the program will have the opportunity to get acquainted with new efficient systems and products in order to cover this increasing market demand. Moreover realizing the benefits of these (less burden to the environment and the economy from the consumer) they can contribute in their further promotion. It is therefore an opportunity for them to gain a “green professional” profile. Through this program the students will be trained in qualified and complex systems of Electrical Installations (KNX-EIB technique) in order to gain new skills, knowledge and qualifications to facilitate personal development, employability and participation in the European labour market. Basic objectives of the program: • Cover the need of the students for initial vocational training in order to improve their skills and knowledge in modern systems of Electrical Installations and be informed in new antipollution technologies (KNX-EIB technique). • Promote language learning and linguistic diversity. • Facilitate mobility and create a sense of European citizenship, thereby promoting the European ideal of free movement of people. • Meet with the culture of another European country. • Recognized certification • Environmental awareness The expected outcome is to achieve all the above objectives of the program. In addition, through the realization of the program, the professional competences of the staff involved in, will be improved and it will give a European dimension and a more modern, dynamic and attractive profile to their organizations. The main activities to be carried out are: • Reception of candidates, linguistic and cultural preparation, preparation of the students for the training objects. • Knx basic course • Technical visits/placement of the students • Certificates and evaluation of the program • Cultural activities for the afternoons and the intermediary weekend (i.e. museum visits, sightseeing tour of the city) The proposed program will involve 12 students of the electrical sector of the 1st EPAL Galatsiou, accompanied by 2 teachers (Electricians or related speciality). The program will take place in Luxembourg, its duration will be two weeks and the implementation time is the period November 2014 - September 2016. Host Organization: CNFPC, Luxembourg
