ΣΥΝΑΙΣΘΗΜΑΤΙΚΗ ΝΟΗΜΟΣΥΝΗ ΣΤΗΝ ΕΚΠΑΙΔΕΥΣΗ
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In the framework of the Erasmus+ program, five (5) tutors of various specialties of the 1st High school of Kalampaka attended an educational seminar on "Emotional Intelligence in Education" in Vilnius, Lithuania from 15th to 19th February 2016. The receiving organization was Dorea Educational Institute, which is an organization with quite a lot of experience in organizing international and European mobility projects within the framework of Erasmus+. Emotional Intelligence is the individual’s ability to perceive and understand their emotions as well as those of others, achieve their aims, cope with stress and work productively. Since research on E.I. is almost non-existent in Greece, the teachers satisfied their needs to enrich their knowledge, adjust, maintain, renew and update their qualifications and the necessity to be provided with innovative educational opportunities in this field. After the seminar, they acquired knowledge which has enabled them to recognize the factors that constitute EI and its role in education. Also, they developed appropriate skills which have helped them create a learning environment that promotes self-awareness, self acceptance and self-evaluation. As a result, students’ talents and gifts are not ignored and suitable educational practices are adopted. Besides, they realized the important role EI plays in the improvement of their relationship with their colleagues and the Head of the school. However, the participants were not the only ones that benefited from the seminar. In the framework of the dissemination of the results of the mobility project, the 1st High School of Kalampaka sent an open invitation for an educational event that was held at a municipal hall on Thursday, 23rd June 2016. The aim of the event was to inform both the school teachers and the local community about the significance of EI. All in all, this mobility project broadened and improved the beneficiaries’ professional skills while adding a European dimension in these skills. Obviously, the participants developed particular abilities and complementary knowledge which have helped them realize the importance of lifelong learning since it empowers the individuals, helps them develop their self confidence and enables them to understand the new perspectives of their profession thus promoting the balance between their personal and professional lives.
