Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In recent times Turkey has achieved many developments in respect of socio economic areas. For this reason, many asylum seekers especially from Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia and other Africa countries migrate to our country. In recent years, with the rapid increase in the number of asylum seekers from Syrian, refugees began to be placed in the different cities of Turkey. Yozgat is one of those cities. In our city there are around 3,000 asylum seekers. For refugees many services like psychological support, education, health and religious service should be supplied professionally. Theoretically, even if they aren’t given refugee status, they will stay in our country for a long time as asylum seeker status. If we take into account that staying in a country as an asylum seeker is how difficult,it is so easy to understand why they need psycho- social assistance. Some of these asylum seekers continue to their training within the educational system of our contry. That's why this issue is directly related to our educational institutions. Because of the trauma they have experienced, the asylum seekers do not receive educational services in a normal way. This situation creates school attendance problems. Corporate staff who are going to be interested in refugees should be trained primarily about communication skills, management competencies, new teaching methods or tools, European experience, unifying students for teaching and learning, refugees’ pcycho-social needs ,and their approach to refugees. Actually, there aren’t so many international refugees in our country because of our geographical drawback in Geneva Treaty. People staying in our country and generally named as refugees are mostly in asylum seeker status. However, in terms of psycho-social needs, so there is no difference between the two. Our project aims our staff studying in our school receive education during a week in member nations of EU. We think EU countries are much more experienced about subjects related to refugees. Our project is aiming at reducing “early school leavers "rate from 14% to 10% which is one of the aims of the Europe 2020 strategy''. By the way of this education, it is aimed our staff - to be more experienced in subjects related to psycho-social assistance - to get more information about refugees’ possible conditions by seeing different cases - to have more information about problems refugees will have during their adaptation process - to enlarge their knowledge about the ways to communicate with refugees - to be more experienced about methods to have refugees be more social in society The mobility will be held at once to the city of Perugia, Italy for a period of one week. The participants will be trained in the centers that work directly to refugees. Totally 8 teachers and 2 administrators will join the mobility.
