Search for European Projects

Sharing the Joy of Learning
Start date: Dec 31, 2014, End date: Dec 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The background of this project is the need for developing a "School for the Future", to open up our local school in an effective way to the European society and its' overall international context. We need to improve our skills as teachers in enabling the pupils to excel as citizens of Europe in the 21st century. Among the objectives in the project could be mentioned the goal to make all the participants aware of their shared society: Europe. We want to increase awareness and knowledge about the history, culture, geography, religion, society and school systems in all partner countries to be able to analyze and appreciate things in common, but also the richness found in the differences between the countries. The participating schools are from Ireland, Slovenia and Finland. The Slovenian school is big and situated in a city. They have developed their capability to help children with special needs, also the especially gifted pupils. The Irish school is situated in a small school in the countryside like Bäckby skola and invites to many possibilities for comparison. We will visit our partners and use the experiences fully. The pupils will work around themes like "The school of the future", geography, culture, religion, history and the different school systems. The pupils will share their products and interact in a number of ways using digital tools, like film., photos and multi media. We will utilize twinspace, blogs and other appropriate means of communication. The impact from the course "Creativity and Learning 2014" is expected to be great and its outcomes will be used effectively in all partnerschools. We will carry out the project systematically and pupil centered so the teachers will effectively make use of all the input they got for the students' and schools' benefit. The results will be demonstrated using multimedia, film and other appropriate means. The children and teachers will get new insights concerning their European environment and what is in common and what differs in the different countries. All participants will improve their technical skills and ability to cooperate in different languages and with different groups in and outside their own school. We will get a more clear idea of what a "School of the Future" could be like. Long term benefits are expected to be huge. An increased appreciation of lifelong learning and a forthgoing eagerness to develop the teaching methods used in the school and also a commitment to an overall ongoing school development. The personal contacts and experiences received will also have a long term impact and are expected to result in new exciting projects in the future.
