Sharing European Memories at School
Start date: Jan 1, 2011,

The European historical memory needs to be recuperated and be shared with the youngsters in order for them to better understand the Europe they live in. Consequently, after the experience of the project Sharing European Memories (Culture Programme), some of the partners decided to go further on this experience of bringing past events and their memory to the young people. The project aims to develop a teaching methodology enabling teachers to include a topic related to the Historical Memory in schools, facilitating its insertion in the scholar curricula and having as objective the elaboration of a final team work to be developed by students with an attractive support. The methodology will be experimentally implemented during one-school year and then adjusted to the experience and feedback obtained.Together with the methodology, and as a key part of it, a database of schools having had worked with Historical Memory will be created in order to allow students to compare their experiences with other European schools, improving the knowledge and awareness on the European culture diversity, as well as its common roots. The methodology will allow students to acquire transversal skills such as team work, critical sense, capacity of decision, active learning capacity, etc. Besides, we consider that the students participating in this programme will increase their sense of belonging to their community thanks to a better understanding of the society they live in. Doubtless, this will contribute to promote a more active European citizenship.
