Shape society and be part of interculturel Berlin
Start date: Aug 3, 2015, End date: Apr 2, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

We invite six young people from fourdifferent Eastern and South European countries to make experiences in social projects in Berlin and thesurrounding region by working with handicapped people, seniors, children and youth groups. With the project 'Shape society and be part of intercultural Berlin' we want to encourage young people to go abroad and feel like European Citizens in Berlin. They shall be animated to shape the society through social engagement, to enrich the life of the target groups and their own. Beyond that they get the possibility to explore Berlin as an intercultural European city and get intercultural experiences by daily exchange with their team and the people they care for. In weekly meetings with the group of international volunteers and a group of German former volunteers they get into direct exchange with other young people. Within the group they can develop ideas and support each other to prepare personal projects, live creativity and exchange impressions about the experiences during the voluntary service, about daily life, culture, politics and society of the different countries they represent. Both, the social engagement and exchange with peers will support the personal development and make them gain self conciousness and vast experiences for their life and future career. The project shall give an input to be social citizens who take resposibility for the society they live in and animate them to transport the idea of voluntarism and intercultural exchange when they come back in their home countries.
