SHÄR
Start date: Oct 20, 2013,

SHÄR is a dance and film project that is initiated by young artists from Sweden, Iceland, Italy, Norway, and Hungary. Collaborating organizations are the dance groups Blauba (SE), Raven (IS), and the film association BABELEfilmica (IT).The aim of the project is to spread dance to young people in Iceland. Our vision is that dance should be easily accessed, and be more visible in the non-capital regions of Iceland. We want to engage a public audience, increase the awareness of movement and widen the perception of dance.SHÄR includes the dance piece EVRÍVÄR, a choreographic work suitable for everyone and can be performed in different spaces during various cultural events; the workshop MÚV, that targets young people and the dance film MÚVÍ, created by young people during some of the workshops. EVRÍVÄR is a versatile and “mobile” dance piece made for three performers and choreographed by all ten dance members of SHÄR. Its movement language is surprising, enjoyable and mixes different styles. MÚV, the workshop, aims to encourage people’s interest in dance both as an art form and a way to move. The workshop provides a way to lead people into a healthy way of working physically and challenge their creative skills. MÚVÍ focuses on the movement by capturing the shadows and silhouettes of the participants in the workshops. It is a dance film directed and produced in collaboration with the Italian film association BABELEfilmica. The importance of making a film alongside the workshop is to get the participants involved in a creative process and allow them to be part of the local art scene. Our main working period will be in April-June where we will tour around Iceland, visit schools and leisure centers to spread the SHÄR project. In our advance planning visit we will go for a week long working visit to Norrköping, where we will visit venues such as Studiefrämjandet and Norrköping Konstmuseum.
