Sex? Sex. Sex!
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Dec 17, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

Very often people tend to regard sexual education as something trivial and shameful. Depending on the society it's taught and discussed very briefly, too late or not at all. Our aim is to create a safe, comfortable and fun environment for learning about this delicate yet important topic. The participants will acquire a more in-depth perspective thanks to peer-to-peer learning and variety of cultures - a priceless value which is hard to receive in school. Youth exchange "Sex? Sex. Sex!" will bring together 24 (16+8) young people accompanied by youth leaders for 11 (9+2) days. It will be held in a cozy countryside guest house in Western-Estonia in August 2014. The participating countries are: Estonia, Armenia, Poland, Georgia, Italy and Ukraine. Youth exchange is developed for youngsters aged 15-18 since this is the age for forming the base of perception on sexuality and healthy/unhealthy habits. We are aiming to have one youngster of each gender from every country since youth gender balance is extremely important to have an amplifying effect on both sexes and "the both sides" of the story. For enhancing the objectives we aim to have highly motivated youngsters with as different social, cultural and religion backgrounds as possible. A broad-based knowledge of sexuality is not a must since the quality and existence of sexual education varies largely between the countries. We will provide basic sexual education to youngsters from countries where the quality of it is poor, revise and teach new angles for the participants who are receiving good quality sexual education from their school. The project continues with comparing how these topics are addressed in participants societies; discovering religion, culture and gender differences; consequences of discrimination based on stereotyping; how national dances portrait sexuality; finding out how sex is seen in media and how it manipulates our perspectives of beauty; self-reflecting on sexual identity and values etc. This will be done by discussions, interactive games, study visits, role-plays, treasure hunt, observing the local society, workshops, video materials, dancing, visualization and presentations. The Sex? Sex. Sex! project is put together aiming a healthier society by a tangible multiplier effect and a sustainable impact as sex is a "hot" topic: youngsters have been and keep socializing with peers about these topics. Participants are depended upon becoming healthy role models after the project and giving good value information to their peers, friends, siblings, family, spouse, children etc. The objectives of the exchange: Develop and promote solidarity and tolerance in accordance to European citizenship priorities Foster mutual understanding between youth in different countries Improve the ways participants can tackle sexuality related problems (health, family planning, STD, sexual identity, gender differences, sexual rights) Form healthy and positive attitudes (self-respect, tolerance, responsibility) Gain critical awareness about media and understand how the perspectives are formed Widen the horizon about sexuality Encourage youth to issue the topic of sex in the society and be a healthy role model Promote cooperation in the youth field Inclusion and empowerment of young people
