SET UP YOUR SAILS FOR YOU IN EU
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Oct 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The key theme of the project: Europe – sail boat, where all of us on the board are crew members. What can we do to feel valuable crew members, satisfied with our decisions and existence, what can we change to own beloved job, purposeful and meaningful free-time, being capable to manage and keep balance between work and leisure, be healthier and simply more happy. When the boat set sails, you can‘t change your crew in the middle of the ocean.. Issues of health, unemployment and related problems are very relevant in todays’ Europe. These questions give foundation for rising euro-skepticism. During youth exchange program, 30 participants from Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal and Czech Republic will have an opportunity to work on these issues finding answers in very unique way. Together with partners, we developed “Set up your sails for you in EU” main idea – to use sailing as non formal education tool to create attractive and one of the kind conditions for young people, who faces challenges of professional choice, feel lack on enriching activities and job to maintain quality life. We believe, that extreme conditions when multitasking on the boat, is a gold mine for self reflection and personal development. We will help participants to learn in multicultural environment. These conditions should help them to develop personal and interpersonal soft skills, by learning from each other, and about each other. To reach these goals we set up these tasks: - Organize activities in international teams during sailing practice. Create multicultural environment and provide participants with opportunity to solve critical situations together, as a result, learn about different cultures, history, traditions in sailing. Find out about popular and unusual sport activities in different countries, which might help to keep balance between work and active, healthy lifestyle, therefore become more active, more healthy and of course more happy. Grant participants with possibility to try traditional and modern water sports, help them to create safe practice. Promote European dialogue through sailing. - Provide conditions for participants to learn about healthier lifestyle, encourage them to share examples how to spend their free time more use-full and what benefits can person get from practicing various sports and combining these activities with work or studies. Create non-competitive environment, which would be suitable for personal and interpersonal learning. Use non-formal education principles in group building activities and learning processes. Help to develop soft skills for participants to improve their awareness and self conscious. Promote initiative, responsibility and independence by providing them a decision right. - we will put participants on real setting when they will have to analyze Kintų community with their current state. Participants will have to investigate demographic and economical situation of small town, find out needs of citizens, make a map of local business, and then look for possibilities to develop new business ideas. To sum up, they will have an opportunity to present their vision of the town for community. Locals will be able to see their everyday life from different perspective, and maybe find some really good solutions which might lead to changes for better tomorrow. As a result of the project we are looking forward to create recommendation letter of our practice in project for small communities such as Kintai town. We will share our successful initiatives and reached achievements with these communities so we could prevent people from being „overboard“, as it does happen every single day of our lives in school, university, job market and even Europe.
