The purpose of the Service Refrigeration Education for the Future project is to develop training programmes, at basic and technician level, for service assistants in the refrigeration industry, integrating the latest information on developing standards, legislation and technology.Six modules, ranging from basic to advanced level, will be developed in EN for use in stand-alone computer applications or in network integrated format to be used in a mixture of classroom and e-based learning. Prototype versions will be fully accessible via the project website, which will further offer a student-teacher chat room. The developed training modules will be submitted for certification at international standard.Following a pilot phase with students and validation of the results with industry employers the consolidated results will be published. Ongoing dialogue with industry representatives will be stimulated through launch events and via project leaflets, press releases and an international mailing list. End products and results will be presented to a series of appropriate college conferences and at the European Refrigeration Exhibition.
