The "Being young in Gungo" is a type of individual project and will involve a voluntary, involving Portugal and Angola. The service of young volunteers will be 12 months and will be focused on Gungo, diocese of Sumbe, Angola. The community of Gungo is located in a very mountainous region affected by war. This region is isolated from the city due to difficult available access. Once detected in the educational needs of children and young's Gungo, will produce a training plan suited to the needs of the community as well as a number of campaigns and activities to encourage young people to participate in community life. Young volunteers will help to promote a non-formal education, while allowing you to live for 12 months with a different culture, which will help develop a sense of openness and tolerance towards the other. The project has the themes of cooperation, development and non-formal education.The objectives of the project are:- Develop in young volunteer feelings of solidarity;- Educating the young volunteers for tolerance and respect for a distinct culture;- Promote dialogue and interaction between young people from different cultures;- Promote the fight against racism and xenophobia;- Strengthen the young volunteers European values;- To promote active citizenship.For that project objectives are met, will use the method of participant observation. Thus, the young volunteers will actively participate in projects of the Mission of Gungo, which will involve the daily experience with the local population, including their customs and habits and working on local priorities. In particular, the young volunteers will promote:- Awareness campaigns against polygamy and violence against women;- Training in preventive health, home economics and family easier monitoring;- Training tutorial for children in areas of the Mission of Gungo where no teachers;- Provide school supplies and teaching young people;- Encourage young people in community work in the areas of greatest need Gungo;- Cultural sharing among young Portuguese and Angolans;- Education for tolerance;- And encourage young people to Gungo in its participation in the community.
