Selbstorganisiertes Lernen erleben - Experience self-organised learning - Bildungswerkstatt Knittlingerhof
Start date: Sep 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The non-profit-organisation "Bildungswerkstatt Knittlingerhof (BWS)" performs a progressive teaching private school with public status and a private kindergarten. It is located in Upper-Austria, in the town of Ried with 12.000 inhabitants, situated in the rural area between Munich (150 km), Linz (75 km) and Salzburg (75 km). In our school, 70 children from six to sixteen years develop in self-organised learning, like 18 children from three to six years in our kindergarten. We believe that children can develop best doing each step of development in a self-organised learning process - as long as they are attended by adults (parents and teachers) in a respectful way. This is the basis of our pedagogic work. With the project "Experience self-organised learning" we offer the opportunity for a volunteer to experience this idea in everyday life. The volunteer will become acquainted with new aspects of learning and experience these way of learning for himself/herself. People from different countries, with different languages, shall learn together and from each other. Learning and developping as a basic need joining all human beings shall be the basis of tolerance and respect, regardless of differences in culture and language. Thereby, our project shall contribute to intercultural understanding and to the reduction of mental "borders". The volunteer’s activities in this project include the daily curriculum as well as participation in activities and school projects such as school trips, summer camp, Christmas market, or flea market. In this project we can affiliate one volunteer for the period of one year (from September 2015 to August 2016).
