With the multimedia project Seks is... (Sex is...) the young reporters of the website www.bijlmerenzo.nl want to create an online platform where young people from the Southeast part of Amsterdam can express themselves about their experiences with and views about sex. The reporters came up with the idea for the project after stories in the media that there is a lot of sexual assault and rape happening amongst youth, particularly in the Southeast part of Amsterdam, where a large multicultural community lives and there are various problems regarding low income, school dropouts, teenage pregnancies etc. In this project the BIJLMERenZO reporters do several (anonymous) interviews with different young people, make short films about sexuality and interview experts on sexual behaviour amoungst youths. There will also be an online inquiry about the topic. All the documented material and the results of the inquiry will be posted online on a Facebook page, that is especially made for this project. This way other youth can be informed about sex and the pressure that comes with it, in order to make well informed decisions about their own seks life and possible consequences such as teen pregnancy, sexual harassment or even rape. The project will be concluded with a multimedia talkshow about the topic and the premier of the short films (one-minutes). This event will take place in a local cultural youth center in the southeast of Amsterdam.
