Second chance - work with homeless children in Mexico

Estonian volunteer Jaanika Värton (19 years oid) is invited to do EVS project in Mexico.This project is proposed as a result of cooperation and exchange between associations EstYES/ Estonia and SIIJUVE/ Mexico with the aim to provide the volunteer with valuable experience of independent life overseas, work on social project and deep intercultural learning in Latin America. The project is in the social field and it will permit the young volunteer to get inside and to discover this sector in Latin America. Volunteer is going to do voluntary work in Ipoderac permanent home.Ipoderac is an organization located in Atlixco, Puebla. The main aim of it are:-To offer homeless children the opportunity to attend school in nearby cities such as Atlixco and Puebla.« Offering to children training workshops focused on the development of different habits, attitudes and personal habits that would help them in their future jobs.-Psychological support, through weekly workshops that aim to generate self esteem as well as anger controland frustration management.The project last 6 month and offers to volunteer a range of different tasks such as:-Working with goats: watching over and feeding them. Their milk is used to produce cheese to be sold; this isan important income for IPODERAC.« Vegetable garden: all sorts of vegetables and fruit are produced there in order to provide children and \. volunteers sustenance.-Study: educators and volunteers usually supervise children's homework in the afternoon.-Psychological and pedagogic advise: every child and teenager receives professional advice when necessary.«Special cla^s: where volunteers and educators give än extra help to the children.-Laundry: volunteers take care of the wash of clothes and sheets.« Food is daily prepared in a commune area and distributed through all of the houses.
