se former pour mieux former
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Moulin à Vent School of Cloué is formed with a primary level and an elementary level organized in three classes with children from 3 to 10 years old. It is a rural school in which in which the teaching team has been noticing for many years a certain lack of interest for other cultures (other French regions and other countries in general). Furthermore, this problematic has been raised this past year whilst primary & junior-high councils among the schools of our network by all the teachers of the area. Following this statement, it's been decided to work together in order to widen the cultural interest of the pupils in both elementary and junior-high schools. It has been decided in our school to work this way so that the school project plans on focusing their work on English speaking countries. The project implies to teach in English for three hours in each class : the language courses included in the programs and also to complete them in other disciplines such as mathematics, sciences, sports, arts... The purpose of this project is not to form bilingual pupils but to make them more receptive to the culture of English speaking countries and to allow them have access to bilingual or european classes in junior-high school and also to propose to them a teaching without prejudice. In order to obtain the best chances to succeed in such a project, the three teachers ask here for a participation in a training that would be extremely beneficial for the pupils : indeed, better trained teachers will bring credibility to their work and also a better motivation to the pupils. For the youngest, the available activities will be oral. They will rely on visual and audiovisual material. The pupils will acquire the vocabulary basics and will be proposed activities inspired by the work of other pupils of the same age from foreign countries. For the middle age pupils, this vocabulary will be reinforced and integrated to simple grammatical structures : daily sentences, class sentences... The cultural aspect will be more developped : study of the everyday life in the United Kingdom and also the study of English speaking artists. For the eldest, the same work will bu pursued using a more elaborate vocabulary and also a deepened knowledge of the inhabitants of these countries. To go along with this work, the teaching team plans to put in place exchanges with European schools in different ways : the Internet, Skype, blogs and tweets. At first, the results of such a work should be verified by a better interest of the pupils in foreign countries : curiosity towards other ways of life, the will to communicate with children from other countries using English... Medium and long term, the impact could be more visible with pupils trained efficiently to English and willing to have access to bilingual or European classes.
