Scouts - Creating a Better World is an eight days long youth exchange, which will be implemented in Izmir, Turkey. Project involves thirty young scouts from Slovenia and Turkey, aged between 15 and 30. We aim to provide participants with the opportunity for intercultural learning and with it we aspire to strengthen their sense of European citizenship. We will get to know scout organisations from both countries and their methods of work, exchange good practices and various scouting skills in the desire to enrich our future work and help our organizations grow. Then we shall renew our knowledge about project management and test our regained skills in practice by implementing social projects in Izmir community (activities for young people with fewer opportunities, assistance to the victims of the earthquake, visiting nursing homes and orphanages ...), which will strengthen young people's commitment to active citizenship and the spirit of solidarity and help to overcome cultural and religious differences. All this will be carried out by methods of non-formal education, including working groups, discussions, photo voice, open space, brainstorming, NAOMI planning method and of course the Scout method* An important difference compared with other exchanges is that the participants were the initiators of the project development and helped materializing it from the beginning. They will be actively involved in the organization of the exchange, so we organized a preparatory weekend, which will be dedicated to detailed planning and coordination of activities. Weekend will be held simultaneously in Turkey and Slovenia and both groups will interact via Skype conferences. After the completion of the exchange, we will continue our programme with a finishing weekend, which will serve to assist with preparation of participant's projects and activities for the transmission of acquired knowledge with photo presentation in local scout community and through photo galleries and magazine articles in the local community. To keep the knowledge alive, we will create a documentary that will show the exchange from preparation stages to final evaluation. * Scout method is an informal educational system used by scouts.
