The project aims are to establish a Science Pedagogy Innovation Centre for Europe (SPICE). The primary objective is to collect, analyze, validate and disseminate innovative pedagogical practice, especially those based on inquiry-based learning whilst enhancing pupil motivation for science studies (at primary/secondary level).Basic strategy/outputs:1. A European methodology observatory made up of 16 science education experts and 16 MST teachers from 16 EU countries will be set up. Its aim will be to ensure that project tools and services explicitly meet the requirements of a wide range of teachers, pupils and policy makers and establish the criteria for the selection of best practices.2. The Science educators panel and teachers panel will work in close collaboration to select best EU policy actions and examples of good practice. Outcome: 16 policy actions + 24 best practice projects in MST (16 from different EU countries + 5 CZ + 5 PT).3. 24 teachers will assess best practice projects in different countries. 4. Results will be disseminated to both teachers and policy makers. A summer school will be used in the exploitation phase, with communities of practice arising from it to further expand/implement the results. All content will be available in English, Czech and Portuguese. There will be partial translations in 14 other European languages.IMPACT ENVISAGEDImproved motivation and scientific thinking amongst pupils by facilitating uptake of innovative pedagogies by their teachers, and by providing appropriate tools to support them in this process.To facilitate collaboration between informal and formal sectors of science education, and bringing together a multi-stakeholder group of key thinkers and practitioners in the field of science education.To establish an effective online infrastructure to enable and reinforce interaction between all actors in the field, and to promote the results of European and national science education projects.
