The objective of the European development plan of Grammar School in Giraltovce includes promotion of cooperation and open communication among teachers and parents and develop meaningful cooperation strategy schools with parents in the transformation of the open school. The team of "School in my heart," composed of teachers, parents and school management, will explore new concepts aimed at strengthening the links between school and parents, which will be based on transparency, open communication and trust to each others. We start with the assumption that the good cooperation of parents and school is the most important especially for students. In spite of the efforts of the both sides, cooperation between parents and teachers in our school is currently on a formal level, it is underdeveloped, and in some cases is completely absent. We would like to engage teachers belonging to the team of 'School in my heart in activities of KA1 activities by attending a course abroad to get a chance to look at cooperation with parents as an opportunity to open up new possibilities, initiate changes in school and to advance the personal and professional development of teachers. All experiences and competencies gained on the course would be transfered not only to participating teachers, but also to the entire teaching staff. We would like to establish the team of school teachers who recognize successful European school educational concepts and can apply them into our conditions transforming a traditional school into a modern school, the school open and able to compete with schools of similar type in our region. By doing this project we would like to support our teachers in training and enhance participation in mobility projects to improve the level of key competences and skills of teachers. Because of the fact that teachers ´ participation in KA1 will benefit the school as well, it will thus be supported by a team responsible for preparing a strategy of cooperation with parents with regard to international experience and increase the credit of our school. Last but not least, our students will be supported in their personal and professional life by the help of the new strategy of cooperation between school and family. Teachers can verify their language competences, which will encourage them to work in further international projects in an European context.Three teachers with experiences in international projects and having language skills will attend a course Parents & Teachers: Building Bridges leading by a team of experts who have extensive experience in training teachers across Europe, and who understand the specific needs of educational work. We expect from our colleagues that the gained experiences will be passed on and after arrival back home, they will initiate changes of interaction of our school with the public but also in the teaching staff of our school. The course of Parents & Teachers: Building Bridges is focused on developing key competences in the field of interpersonal communication, advisory - consultative, design, planning and the ability to cooperate. The course lasts 5 days and consists of the form of modules, which one module includes five hours of teaching.Participants of the course will work on various levels as multipliers of experiences. They will inform all teachers of our school about the contents, topics and duration of the international course in that field,and about the possibilities of implementation of the contents in our conditions in creating of the strategy of cooperation with parents. The main task of international absolvents of the course will help teachers to open to a new way and realize their own expectations in collaboration with parents and especifically define them, to guide teachers how to deal with problems and conflicts, emphasizes the risks but also to focuse on opportunities of cooperation with parents.
