Scandinavian Game Developers
Start date: May 31, 2011, End date: May 30, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

Focus on the Scandinavian game development industryThis project contributes to the establishment of cross-border cooperation between existing and potential innovation environments from the game development industry and educational institutions. The overall aim of the project is to ensure that entrepreneurs in the Scandinavian game development industry can establish viable companies and survive in a highly competitive business environment by developing and testing business models, create incubators with business coaches, build a Scandinavian competences database, and establish a Scandinavian stakeholder network. This will result in more and better games, and that several of the area's talents will start businesses in the Kattegat/Skagerrak region, rather than seek employment elsewhere.Games as learning toolsThe project (will) gives young game contractors coaching and tools to establish and cultivate the new user-centric markets for computer games for education, training and marketing - generally referred to as 'serious games'. The project also develops a new business model adapted to these new markets. In serious games, the users everyday challenges are directly involved in the game, and compared to traditional forms of learning, serious games offer new and better opportunities to create learning. In the game industry, networking is crucial, and the project aims to establish one strong cross Scandinavian network in which all relevant stakeholders are represented. By working systematically with the network, the project aims to make sure that the Scandinavian countries will be among the front runners of the industry and, as such, be able to attract investors from all over the world, and at the same time be one of the centers that the world will turn to for new ideas, innovation and development within the game industry.
