Save the Earth: Counsellors and Advisors on Renewable Energy Occupations – EARTHCARE

The EARTHCARE project sets out to improve guidance on occupations in the field of renewable energy and builds on the results of the previously funded PREDAC project which developed two databases for renewable energy occupations, one detailing available training courses and the other job vacancies. The project will add to existing information, as contained in the databases, by developing a series of standardised job profiles and identifying transferable skills in the renewable energy sector. A training curriculum will be developed for career counsellors to enable them to advise job seekers/students about requirements and job opportunities in the renewable energy sector. The project will begin by identifying and documenting occupations, job profiles/standards, and transferable skills in the renewable energy sector across Europe. This information will be transferred into a handbook relating variations in job profiles and required standards across Europe, which will further inform the development of the counsellors' training programme and its curriculum. The training programme, lasting two days, will be piloted in three countries amongst a selected group of career counsellors. The success of the training will be evaluated both internally and externally by social partners and potential end-users and the results written up as reports. A final dissemination report will be produced containing the project results, with each partner responsible for dissemination in two additional countries outside of the project partnership. Dissemination will also take place via the project website and a project exploitation plan, to capitalise on the project's results with the launch of training programmes, will be drawn up by the project partners.
