The need of the project Lithuania lacks sensitivity and professionalism of the specialists, too little attention is paid to adaptation of children in a new place: starting to go to the kindergarten/nursery, after settlement in foster/adoptive family or in institutional care. Objectives of the project 1 ) to acquire new knowledge and skills for specialists about child adaptation in a nursery/ kindergarten/ in other new location 2 ) to colaborate organizations participating in the project, to establish new relationships 3 ) to improve foreign language (German) skills 4 ) to create learning material about child adaptation model 5 ) to conduct two training sessions for pre-school staff in Vilnius and Kaunas 6 ) to educate, inform other professionals during the public dissemination of the project. Number of participants and experience The project involves a Consortium of 4 partners: NGO “Children and Parent Center”, NGO “I and We” and Children Welfare Centre “ Pastoge”and NGO ”SOTAS” (Social Service Volunteers) and one host organization in Germany - German Child Day Care Association (Bundesverband für Kindertagespflege). 7 participants responsible for educating of professional competences of specialists working in family welfare sphere (for several years conducting various training courses, conferences and seminars) will go to the visit in Germany. Activities of the project The main activity of the project – 9 day professional practice /monitoring in the host organization. Followed by the gained experience, methodological materials and DVDs will be prepared training materials and trainings. Management of the project The evaluation will take place: 1) in the host organization (after the visit will be given a Europass Mobility document to each participant), 2) in the participants’ organizations, 3) during the round-table discussion of all seven participants, 4) during training time of preschool staff in Vilnius and Kaunas. Expected results 1 ) raised qualification of seven participants (will be issued qualification approving Europass certificates) 2 ) supported further successful cooperation between the project partners and established new contacts in a foreign country 3 ) improved foreign language (German) skills 4 ) prepared training materials on child adaptation model for all professionals working in the field of children welfare and for parents /foster parents/adoptive parents 5 ) conducted training for preschool staff in Vilnius and Kaunas 6) acquired experience and learned adaptation method will be used in the organizations of Consortium members - in their daily work with children, parents/foster parents/adoptive parents. The effect and usage in the long- term perspective Experience acquired during practice/observation will be used in the daily work ("I and we" will prepare for the newly planned children day-care activities, Children Welfare Center ,, Pastoge” and “Sotas” will use it in working with children /parents/foster parents/adoptive parents collaborating with other organizations). It is expected to disseminate information about children adaptation model after the project finishes, to introduce with it as more professionals working in child welfare as possible.
