We are a regulated primary school. 80% of our pupils come from a background other than the Netherlands. A large proportion of our pupils is not proficient in Dutch. Because of this a lot of curriculum time is pent on language with particular attention being paid to the enlargement of their vocabulary and the addition of English language fom year 1. The school has been assisted by Early Bird and has succesfully completed the initial assesment and the aim is to succesfully complete the Landelijk Standaard VVTO this school year.With this aim in mind all teachers should be able to prepare methodically with variation and differentiation lessons which include divers ways and effective use of material.In orde for this to be realised it is important that the team is supported and encouraged by a coordinator who will be responsible to impart this increase in knowledge, application and ability of the whole team.In order to facilitate this, the teacher who has the responsibility and coordinates English in the Primary School setting, will be undertaking two weeks of additional training of the Pelgrims Training Methodology & English Language for Primary Schools. This will enable the Teacher to increase her own English language & Application, leading to increased knowledge and confidence in her own ability, while passing on this knowledge and understanding to her fellow collague teachers.Once the course has been completed the Coordinator will share her collague teachers all aquired information and knowledge during team meetings and one or more teacher training days. Besides which this information and knowledge will be shared during consultation days with other schools in the area during school year 2016-2017. The knowledge will be built on and used to encourage and empower collagues who also wish to use and increase methodologies. In order to create various and unique ways of teaching our pupils. This will increase inspiring and varied lessons, effectively using different teaching methods and activities.This will stimulate the pupil interaction and increase the benefit for pupils.
